The present study was conducted to determine the effects of Buikjiwhangwhan (BK) on weights of body and visceral organs and Catecholamine concentrations of adrenal glands in mature female rats.
The results in this experiment were as follows:
1. Weight of body slightly increased at the 1st week, but decreased from 2nd to 4th week after BK treatment.
2. In the weight of visceral organs, B K treatment showed significant increase in heart, kidney, brain (2nd week) and spleen, liver (4th week), but showed significant decrease in heart, brain (4th week) and liver (2nd week).
3. In the weight of endocrine and reproductive organs, B K treatment showed significant increase in adrenal gland (4th week), decrease in uterus (4th week), but showed not significantly increased overiles.
4. In the contents of catecholamine in adrenal glands, B.K showed norepinephrine significantly decreased all week, but showed not significantly decreased in epinephrine.
